Description
The Memory Stitch: Winter Sports / Point de mémoire: les sports d'hiver is an installation work that seeks to reclaim and reimagine memories captured on small-gauge film. This work also looks at technology's effect on the making history. Hébert explores this through a juxtaposition of reconfigured found footage from the 1930's and newly created Super 8 films that were inspired by those archival images. These non-linear short narratives are synchronized and edited in such a way that the stories respond to each other and are intended to be projected onto handmade screens. Both films are united by a single overarching soundtrack created from ambient audio gathered while shooting in Manitoba. The Memory Stitch / Point de mémoire explores the spirit of nostalgia, playfulness, and the re-creation" of memory.
